The number of small electric car batteries for sale in the United States is about to grow again. Chevrolet announced today it will sell an electric-powered version of the next sedan 2013 Spark in the world, including North America. The Spark, which is already on sale in world markets, will come to the United States for the 2013 model year, making the smallest car sold by General Motors in North America. Spark US-spec models will be slightly different from those proposed in the world. Chevy plans on adding a little more aggressive front fascia, with most of the assembled projector.
Spark North American models use a power of 83 1.2-liter I-4, which will send power to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transmission or a transmission probably a four-speed automatic. For drivers who need to Spark fewer miles between charges and wants to go green, however, the Chevrolet Spark will be an EV. This is not the first time GM has an electric motor shoehorned under the bonnet of a Spark: Spark EV production will probably be based on EV Beat (Beat and Spark are two different names for the same model), which GM has tested extensively in India. This time, however, the Spark EV packs nanophosphate will use lithium-ion battery, which have been designed and will be provided by A123 Systems.
